From a simple walkway to the ornate exterior of a high-rise building, masons use a variety of materials to create durable surfaces and structures. The Masonry program combines classroom training and job site experience so that upon graduation, students should perform as entery-level masonry apprentices . The program is certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Students will also be able to recieve there OSHA 10 hour card for general construction. Students receive instruction in laying concrete block and brick, composite walls, chimneys and fireplaces, landscaping, segmental pavers, setting tile, stone work, drywall, stucco and concrete pouring/finishing. Other topics include the different types of mortar mixes, their strength and uses, reinforcement of masonry walls, masonry cleaning, weather protection for masonry, and estimating supplies and materials.Employment Opportunities Personal Qualifications- Bricklayer Ability to work independently
