What is School Based Occupational Therapy (OT)?
OT’s in a school setting help children fulfill their role as students by supporting their ability to participate in daily school activities or “occupations”. These activities include visual motor skills, fine motor skills, executive functioning skills, social skills, life skills, self- help skills, prevocational/vocational skills, community integration skills, sensory integration skills and behavior management skills. Occupational Therapist's also assist students in accessing the appropriate assistive technology and/or adaptive equipment to help them be successful while performing tasks in the skill areas listed above. Services are delivered as individual sessions or in a small group as per each student's IEP. We focus on student strengths and collaborate within the classroom team to support student success.
